“Life after divorce can be really tough for children. Sometimes children feel anxious and confused about living in two homes. Join Addison and her friends as they express their feelings about going back and forth between homes. The gently reassuring text in Living in Two Homes is Tough from the Kid Talk Book Series focuses on self-expression and honesty.”

Abby, congratulations on becoming a published author! Please tell us a little about yourself and your book.

Hi, my name is Abby. I am a ten-year-old kid author and artist. I co-wrote a book with mom called Living in Two Homes is Tough. This book is the first book from our Kid Talk Series about family topics.

Why was it important for you and your mom to write this book?

It was important to share this story to help kids feel comfortable sharing their feelings with their parents about living in two homes. I live in two homes, I don't really like it but I know my parents love me. My story is written from a child's perspective so kids can relate to the characters.

What was your writing process?

We started writing the story in July 2020 then worked with an illustrator and published in November 2020.

Who is your favorite black artist?

My favorite black author is Crystal Swain-Bates, she inspired me with her masterclass to write my book and create my kid journal collection.

Do you have a favorite quote?

Quote - "Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."

Any advice for your peers who would like to become an author?

Believe in yourself, your story matters.

What has been the most challenging part of the writing or publishing journey?

Marketing has been the most challenging.

How can we continue to support your writing journey?

We are planning to release book 2 of the series this Spring. Follow us on IG - @bravekidpress, and on our website bravekidpressauthor.com

Thank you Abby and mom, Cindy Cadet for stepping into our author spotlight! Abby, we are so proud of you and look forward to continuing to support your journey.
