Introducing Cooking with Jacob!

Cooking with Jacob is a collection of 15 enticing recipes, all perfected by Jacob Case, a 9 year old from New Jersey. His entry into cooking came as a result of a need for a creative outlet during the nationwide quarantine and lockdown in the spring of 2020. His now expert display of the culinary art serves as an inspiration to other children, as well as to many adults. In addition to the recipes there is a story of how Cooking with Jacob started and the lessons that I have learned. Cooking with Jacob is available on Amazon, Walmart.com and barnesandnoble.com.

Why was it important for you to write this story?

I co-authored this book with my mom as a way to inspire children and their parents to get involved in cooking together and to make great memories in the kitchen. It is also an extension of my Facebook page Cooking with Jacob.

Describe your writing process or writing schedule.

We started out by documenting our experiences along the way and when it was time to write the book we just put it all together. We made several edits along the way.

Who is your favorite black author and how has that author inspired your writing journey?

I read and enjoy books that are written by different authors and I wasn't inspired by any one in particular. I think I can say my mom has been my inspiration.

What words of advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Choose a topic of interest and just write about it. Set aside time to focus on research and writing.

What has been the most challenging part of the writing or publishing journey?

A challenge is that I am naturally shy and doing live events to market my book makes me very nervous. I have been working really hard to be more confident when I do a live event.

What is next on your journey and how can we support your book?

I would love to have my book translated into different languages so that children and their parents from around the world can be inspired.

Please follow the journey of Jacob Case and his mom, Paula Johnson-Case on their FB Page, where you will find some fun cooking videos that you can watch and share with your children. Also, purchase the book on Amazon.
