After 25 years in the legal profession, Janet Autherine founded the Growing into Greatness Mentorship Community to provide young adults with the support that she struggled to find after immigrating from Jamaica. We are a team of young adults and seasoned professionals learning and growing in a safe space that values friendships, knowledge and community. Explore our resources below.

OUR GROWING INTO GREATNESS TEAM
Founder of the Growing into Greatness Mentorship Community, Janet teaches teens and young adults how to triumph over limiting beliefs and confidently grow into their own definition of greatness by mastering the 10 Tenets of Greatness.
Janet immigrated from Jamaica as a teenager and knows what it is like to overcome odds and accomplish her dreams. She is a graduate of Boston College Law School and has served in the legal community as an attorney and administrative law judge for over 25 years. She is the author of 5 books that are focused on empowering women and children. Through her mentorship initiatives, she creates a bridge of knowledge that enables young adults to receive the mentorship that she lacked during her early career. Linkedin Profile.
Davia serves as our youth Ambassador for Jamaica. She is a honor roll student at Immaculate Conception High School for Girls and has a heart for serving the community.
As an avid reader and a talented writer, she shares her joy of reading with the community and empowers others to join our campaign to Grow into Greatness through reading.
DAVIA TURNER: Youth Ambassador for Jamaica
Gian is a student at Morehouse College, majoring in Business with a minor in Marketing. As a young adult, he is excited to use his social media skills to advance the Growing into Greatness mentorship community. Gian is the co-author of How the Firetruck Came to My House, a book that teaches children to overcome fear through kindness and an adventurous spirit. He is also an avid soccer player.

ODENE JAMES: DIRECTOR OF TRAINING
Odene James is a successful Chartered Banker with over 20+ years of experience in the financial services industry both in Jamaica and the United States. She has extensive experience training, mentoring and coaching aspiring leaders and senior executives, not only towards career zeniths but also through the labyrinths of life’s myriad challenges. Odene has a passion for serving people and her community which she derived from her many years of working in the Credit Union “Movement” which embodies the principle of “People Serving People” and as such is excited to serve the Growing in Greatness community by providing career mentorship, executive coaching and also spearheading initiatives to promote diversity and empower marginalized voices.
